О курсе
The course is aimed at students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies of Moscow State University enrolled in the “Introduction to Teaching'' course. It combines TEFL theory and practice with extensive speaking output and language skills development.
This course consists of 9 main modules, each corresponding to a specific topic of the "Introduction to Teaching" course and containing 4 lessons. Each module incorporates video materials and activities designed to enhance language skills, along with TEFL theory. Practical application is facilitated through online speaking sessions, assignments, mid-course and final assessment assignments.
The primary aim of the course is to develop speaking skills by exposure, using video content and activities focused on teaching improvement.
Subsidiary aims:
- To utilise blended-learning approach for maximizing the effectiveness of the "Introduction to Teaching" course;
- To further deepen students' knowledge and expertise in TEFL theory and practice by incorporating online resources and interactive activities;
- To facilitate students' listening skills through listening to authentic video materials;
- To consolidate students’ vocabulary skills by enabling them to learn and use metalanguage for describing TEFL theory and practice;
- To enable students to design their own activities;
- To provide opportunities for successful formation of soft skills and higher-order thinking skills in students;
- To foster learner autonomy;
- To motivate students for teamwork in their professional area.
